Local LA Artist in Residence Program
Time, space, support, & encouragement.
-
Dream it.
This residency is designed to provide time and space to Black and Brown LA based artists who need a few more resources to realize their visions. The program supports two artists at a time with free studio space in downtown Los Angeles, in a safe, secure, climate controlled, and centrally located studio for one year.
-
Make it.
Each artist receives a material stipend of $2,000 to help kickstart their residency. Our two resident spaces are housed in a larger communal workspace, where artists enjoy the energy and camaraderie of other working artists, 6 in total. There is opportunity to collaborate, exchange ideas, and network.
-
Share it.
The program also includes a schedule of studio visits with established LA based creatives from various media. There are open studio events as well where residents and renters can showcase their work and expand their networks. And finally, each cohort will have the opportunity to participate in a group exhibition.
-
The studio is on the 6th floor of this historic building that is walkable to downtown while being slightly removed.
-
Both available spaces measure approximately 20’x12’ and have plenty of wall space, light, and are heated/air conditioned. Each space comes with a work table, chair, and shelf.
-
There is also a common area with a lounge, kitchenette, and large rolling table for special projects. Please review Studio Rules and Regulations here.
