From Los Angeles and beyond, we partner with organizations nationwide to provide transformational residencies for artists of color, connecting them with life-changing experiences that offer time, space, materials, and mentorship to thrive in their craft.
This residency has given me dedicated space and time to explore and further develop my artistic practice. Having consistent access to studio space and the freedom to create has been most valuable.
LA ARTIST RESIDENCY
One Year. Full Support. Your Community.
July 1 - June 20
Our LA-based residency program addresses a critical gap: around 50% of Black and Latinx artists in Los Angeles lack studio space. Designed as a launch pad for artists, our program provides a full year of free, 24-hour access to a designated studio space, material stipends, professional development, mentorship, and exhibition opportunities.

Receive a scholarship for a two-week intensive craft workshop (Summer 2027), expanding your technical skills and creative horizons.

Pilchuck Glass School Better Together Residency
A CTF x Pilchuck Glass School week-long residency bringing glassblowers together from across the country to create, collaborate, and discuss representation in glass art, with a focus on youth engagement and community building.

Pittsburgh Glass Center Mentorship Residency
A unique mentor-based glass artist residency that pairs established glass artists with emerging artists. Past residents include Jason McDonald and Cedric Mitchell (established artists) paired with Deaunta Holman and Mishawn Cabrera (emerging artists).

Still Life Residency
January 1 - December 31
This initiative by Crafting the Future and Still Life Ceramics champions emerging to mid-career ceramic artists of color by offering dedicated studio space, access to state-of-the-art facilities—including kilns, glazes, pottery wheels, work areas, and materials—alongside mentorship, exhibition opportunities, and more.

In six months to a year, experiment and grow your practice in a 24/7 accessible studio founded by working artists and directed by Ronda Brown and Terrick Gutierrez.

Residency Commitments
- 2 hours/week: Studio support (tech, monitoring, or communications)

This is only the beginning
The Los Angeles residency marks the first in a series of collaborations with Still Life Ceramics, with future programs planned in Richmond, VA, Ferndale, MI, and a second round in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more opportunities for artists to create, grow, and shine.
