Crafting the Future provides scholarship opportunities to eliminate as many financial barriers as possible for artists of color

We partner with youth arts organizations and craft schools nationwide to provide comprehensive scholarships that cover every cost—tuition, room and board, travel, materials, stipends, and per diems.

I was so excited to receive a scholarship from CTF. The people, campus, and energy was amazing, and I am thankful to have learned in the environment. The scholarship exposed me to another craft-specific school and increased my networks/access to teaching in those spaces and other arts-based institutions.

OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

Our open call scholarships are available to artists at any career stage who want to develop new skills, explore new media, or deepen their existing practice. Applications are reviewed based on potential for impact, not just portfolio strength.

PARTNER SCHOLARSHIPS

We work directly with youth arts organizations like YAYA (New Orleans), Hilltop Artists (Tacoma), Project Fire (Chicago), and others to identify talented students who would benefit from immersive craft education. These partnerships ensure we're reaching communities that have been historically excluded from these opportunities.

Partner craft schools match our scholarship funds, doubling the impact and demonstrating their commitment to diversity and access.

TEEN TAKEOVER

Multi-week intensive programs specifically for students and instructors of color, creating supportive learning environments where young artists can learn from role models who look like them.

DEEP CRAFT SCHOLARSHIPS

(Partnership with ORIGINS)

Supports creatives in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia to attend Touchstone Center for Crafts, with peer support and community building built into the experience.

These institutions offer world-class instruction across all craft media—glass, ceramics, metals, fiber, wood, and more.

I am grateful for the scholarship. Not only did I learn a new craft, I meant some awesome people and created new relationships. The entire experience was more than I expected. Without the scholarship it would not have been possible.
